Ukrainians have lived in Switzerland since the nineteenth century. The first Ukrainian Society in Switzerland was founded in 1945 by Ukrainians who found themselves in the country after World War II and is the oldest Ukrainian organization in the Swiss Federation.

However, the real development of the Ukrainian community occurred in 2014, when active Ukrainians began to create various organizations in different parts of Switzerland. The movement gained momentum after February 2022, when hundreds and thousands of concerned citizens began to create dozens of organizations to help Ukraine fight the Russian invasion and support the Swiss cantons in integrating their compatriots who had to move.

Currently, there are more than fifty such initiatives in Switzerland. To connect them and make them easier to find in different regions, we created the information platform www.theukrainian.ch in January 2024.

With easy navigation, every Ukrainian in Switzerland can find an organization for their needs and cooperation.
